In this guide, we’ll look at the different options to change settings and preferences within OS Maps, to get the right set-up for you to get the most from using OS Maps.

Settings

OS Maps features a number of different options to adjust how you use, and experience OS Maps.

1. To access settings, head to the Main Menu (top left corner) and select Settings.

2. From here you have a list of the settings and preferences that you are able to adjust. Just tap on each one to see the various options available.

  • Units of Measurement – adjust the units used for route/activity distance and elevation between metric (Kilometres/Metres) or imperial (Miles/Feet).
  • Change activity speed – adjust your speeds for each activity type to get a more personalised view of estimated time taken to complete a route.
  • Initial map view – choose which location and map type is shown when you open OS Maps.
  • Route line styling – adjust the route line colours, thickness and transparency to make them easier to see on different map layers.
  • Activity line styling – adjust the line colour, thickness and transparency for activities to make them easier to see on different map layers.
  • Aerial 3D – adjust the view for aerial 3D maps (note, this is recommended for advanced users only).
  • Advanced preferences > Snap-to-path – choose whether to enable Snap-to-path route planning globally on Topographic maps or just in GB National Parks. Snap-to-path can also be turned on/off when plotting a route.

From the Main Menu, you can also access My Account, where you can view and amend some of your account details, including changing email or password, managing your subscription (check subscription status and cancellation) or delete your account (note, deleting an account is not reversible and will cause loss of any content linked to your account and access to other OS product and services.

4. Finally, if you need any further information about OS Maps, access to help & support materials, the Terms & Conditions or Privacy Policy and other information, you can access from the ‘Help’ section of the Main Menu.
